The glorious age of sitcoms is over, now all we see is blood, murder, and gory, there are seldom good sitcoms out there nowadays, and I miss them. The feeling of knowing that in a half-hour episode, everything will turn out okay, the sense of comfort you get from the theme song of your favorite series. (As far as theme songs go, Office and HIMYM are at the top of the tier- maybe that should be another blog post-ranking of sitcom theme songs). After watching all of these sitcoms and rewatching them again during the covid pandemic, it is fair to say that I have exorbitant knowledge of them. Here is a list of my favorite sitcoms and the reason behind them, keep in mind that they are my personal opinions which have a high chance of changing in the future.
The office, there is a low chance of this changing. The Office is one of the greatest sitcoms ever made. This is a series that I will go back to again and again and will still laugh as I did the first time. The amazing cast and the amazing writers, not to mention the story arcs are phenomenal. I think The Office paved the way for workplace sitcoms in a way Friends did for friendship sitcoms. There might've been other good sitcoms as well like 30 Rock and Veep, which is also good. But The Office continues to keep me satisfied and smiling (That's what she said).
The next on my list is the most underrated sitcom in the history of sitcoms, why more people don't know about it, I'll never know. NEW GIRL, This sitcom has seven seasons, It's about Jess, a middle-school teacher, who moves into an apartment with three men after she finds her boyfriend with another woman and breaks up with him.

But the story in itself is so much more than that. New Girl is relatable, funny as hell, and has many wholesome moments. It also destroys so many stereotypes that we see on tv today. The main character Jess is the girliest girl you can find, she loves glitter and pink, the whole thing. In a world where being tough means being more masculine, this was a refreshing take as we see a teacher being a badass, without changing anything about her. The same goes for Schmidt, who loves cooking and cleaning and doing braids, which many consider not masculine. There are so many relatable characters and moments in this show, that I keep coming back and watching.
3. My third favorite sitcom of mine is Ladies and Gentleman, The modern family. The writing of the show, and not to mention the chemistry between the characters is out of this world. The crazy dysfunctional family captured everybody's hearts. It has a lot of intelligent humor, breaking the fourth wall, which is one of my favorites in television, because every time someone talks to the camera and looks at the camera It's like you are in on the joke.

Yes, It's funny but It also has a lot of learning and values embedded in it, who could forget Phill-osophy and the episode where they talk about dreamers and realists? Amazing. This show is so wholesome, something you can watch with your whole family.
There is not much to say other than, you are missing out big time, If you haven't watched the modern family.
4. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is definitely one of the best when It comes to workplace sitcoms. It's about a bunch of odd and crazy detectives who fight crimes in Brooklyn. This got me hooked from the first episode, the whole series has a lot of memorable one-liners and jokes that have become part of my vocabulary. That's the kind of impact this show has made, when someone says, tell me why - My immediate response is now number 5. The characters are relatable and funny, and the chemistry between them was awesome.

My favorite character is Captain Holt, his deadpan delivery makes everything ten times more funny. This show also has some really great guest appearances that I loved, my top favorite is the episode with Sterling.k.brown. If you haven't watched it, go watch it right now.
5. Schitts Creek, I feel like Schitt's Creek is very underrated, but this show is a classic sitcom, with AMAZING characters, and writing. The cast is excellent, and the plot in itself is so good. and at the end of the day, just like modern family, It revolves around family and love and acceptance. The most important comedy to have prominent LGBT characters, and has the best comedy shows of all time.

These are my top 5 favorite sitcoms, Part 1, Please check out Part 2 and comment if you agree with my list, and comment if you don't also.
